Why We’re Here…
From Diapers to Deadlines was started by Meagan Francis and Toni Klym McLellan, two working writers who are also busy raising families. When Toni and Meagan were first getting started, they had a hard time finding resources that were geared toward writers with the goal of becoming professional freelancers–but that also addressed the very real questions and concerns that writers with young children face, questions like: Do I need full-time childcare to be a successful freelancer? How do I get my family to respect what I do and give me the time and space to develop my career? Will anybody take me seriously if I’m “just a mom”? Can I do this?
Through a mix of trial and error, time, and hard work, Toni and Meagan found out that yes, they could do it–and did! Collectively, the two have written for a wide variety of magazines including Parenting, Midwest Living, American Baby, Writer’s Digest, Family Fun, Yoga Journal, and many others. Both are parenting columnists, and both continue to build and maintain relationships with editors at a variety of national and regional publications. You can too!
